The past couple of months, I’ve been trying to find a nice place we can take some pictures of our cars without the busy background we usually have when we meet up at our local car cruises/meets. Well this am after finding out (ok forgetting) the Orlando Wetlands are closed for the season…. I took a drive out towards KSC on a scouting mission, to look for a nice setting that would compliment our cars.
I came across a parking area with boat ramp off RT 50 just past Christmas that seems to work well for both early am (sunrises) and should work for early evenings (sunsets).
Note the shots below, in the gallery are only for reference. I was shooting into the sunrise without being able to light the car with an external flash and my car was filthy. Also note this should work very well with the sun setting behind me lighting the car correctly from behind.
A couple of other nice things about this spot:
- We can fit a number of cars together for a nice group shot.
- Can shoot sunrise or sunset at the same location
- Plenty of room to shuffle cars around to get a number of individual car shots in
Concerns:
- The sand used for the road bed gets everywhere. Even after banging my shoes off I still tracked a ton of sand into the car (will bring my battery powered dewalt shop vac)
- Is open to the general public and it could be busy in the evening (durning sunset or the golden hour )
- Not sure how much (good light) time we would have to jockey cars around
So let me know if anyone is interested in an early am or late afternoon meetup for a cool photo shoot We could always meetup near Waterford Lakes, cruise up together, do a photo shoot and then cruise somewhere for breakfast or dinner.
I need to get some times for sunset and sunrise so we know when the best time of day will be. I also plan on heading back up there tonight to see if anyone goes there during the evening (right before sunset). Granted weekends could be more crowded then say weekdays. I’m open either, as I have a lot of vacation and time off over the next month
It’s a great idea and I am up for either sunrise or sunset, location looks great and I think either would look great in photo’s!
